Welcome New Staff- High School

The energy in our buildings is back! On August 19th, we kicked off teacher in service and it has been an inspiring start to the new school year. We are thrilled to welcome five new teachers to our district, along with three returning teachers who have chosen to rejoin our community—what a wonderful addition of talent and experience! Throughout in service, teachers have been busy building community with one another, preparing their classrooms, and engaging in professional learning. From exploring new instructional resources to diving into behavior training, our staff is equipping themselves with the tools and strategies needed to help every student thrive. The excitement is contagious, and it’s clear that our teachers are ready to make this year the best one yet. With classrooms buzzing, hallways filling with energy, and a renewed sense of purpose, we can’t wait to welcome our students back and begin an incredible year of learning together!

The School District of Arcadia is proud to welcome three more outstanding professionals to our high school team this year: Cathy Larson, Mattie Matz, Molly Serum and Delaine Stendahl.

Cathy Larson joins Arcadia after teaching Special Education at Hayward High School and CrossCat. She shared that her passion for teaching stems from a desire to make an impact on the world. Cathy is a widow and lives with her dog, Neo, and her cat, Mum. With a strong family connection to her late husband’s Greek heritage, she enjoys being called “Yaya” by her granddaughter, a role that brings her great joy both personally and professionally.

Mattie Matz completed student teaching at G-E-T High School in Galesville with Cindy Stetzer. Before transitioning to teaching, Mattie worked as a conservation technician, where she discovered her passion for outreach and education. This experience inspired her to pursue a career in teaching science, with the goal of helping students explore the many exciting avenues within the subject and discover what they love. In her free time, Mattie enjoys outdoor adventures, including backpacking in the Tetons—not just once, but twice!

Molly Serum is returning to the Arcadia School District as a School Counselor, bringing with her seven years of experience in education. She has previously worked in the Rosendale-Brandon and G-E-T School Districts. Molly specializes in counseling at both the elementary and high school levels and is excited to serve students, staff, and families in the Arcadia community once again. While her original plan was to pursue clinical practice, Molly discovered her true passion for education while substitute teaching. She enjoys helping students at a younger age, equipping them with the tools they need to face life’s challenges as they grow. Most recently, she completed her Clinical Mental Health Counseling coursework, further expanding the services she can provide.

Delaine Stendahl jins us from Whithall School District.

Arcadia Schools is thrilled to have Cathy, Mattie, Molly, and Delaine join our team. Each brings unique skills, experiences, and passions that will positively impact our students and community this school year and beyond.
