Welcome New Staff- Elementary

The energy in our buildings is back! On August 19th, we kicked off teacher in service and it has been an inspiring start to the new school year. We are thrilled to welcome five new teachers to our district, along with three returning teachers who have chosen to rejoin our community—what a wonderful addition of talent and experience! Throughout in service, teachers have been busy building community with one another, preparing their classrooms, and engaging in professional learning. From exploring new instructional resources to diving into behavior training, our staff is equipping themselves with the tools and strategies needed to help every student thrive. The excitement is contagious, and it’s clear that our teachers are ready to make this year the best one yet. With classrooms buzzing, hallways filling with energy, and a renewed sense of purpose, we can’t wait to welcome our students back and begin an incredible year of learning together!

The School District of Arcadia is excited to introduce two more outstanding educators joining our elementary school team this year: Derek Newsom and Hannah Stenberg.

Derek Newsom brings a wealth of experience to Arcadia, having spent 11 years teaching Kindergarten, 1 year teaching 3rd grade, and 3 years serving as a principal. His journey into education began in high school during a volunteer experience, where he discovered his passion for working with a 4th grade classroom. Derek is married and enjoys life with his wife and their 1-year-old daughter. Outside of school, he has a unique life story—he has experienced being in a hurricane! Derek is eager to bring his skills and leadership to Arcadia while continuing to positively impact the lives of students.

Hannah Stenberg began her teaching career student teaching in Onalaska, later moving on to teach in West Salem before joining Arcadia to teach 4K for the past two years. This year, she continues to bring creativity and passion to her classroom. Hannah loves that each day and every class is different, and she values the opportunity to make a positive impact on students while teaching them that they can accomplish anything they set their minds to. In her free time, she enjoys painting, sewing, and creating. Hannah is thrilled to continue serving the Arcadia community.

Arcadia is proud to welcome Derek and Hannah as they bring their dedication, creativity, and passion for education to our schools. Their commitment to making a difference in students’ lives will be a valuable addition to our district.
