Building Language Skills: Telling Time in Spanish I

Spanish I students are currently learning the essential skill of telling time in Spanish. Lessons have focused on building vocabulary for hours and minutes, while also practicing the correct grammatical forms for pronunciation.

Students are developing an understanding of when to use phrases such as “Es la una” versus “Son las ocho,” and are applying these structures in classroom practice. This unit not only strengthens their ability to communicate daily routines but also helps them gain confidence in using the language correctly and fluently.

In addition to classroom discussions, students are engaging in interactive activities designed to make learning memorable. Using real clocks, role-play conversations, and listening exercises, they are practicing how to ask and answer questions about the time in Spanish. These hands-on experiences allow students to connect the vocabulary with real-world situations, preparing them to use their new skills beyond the classroom.

This focus on pronunciation and grammar ensures that students not only recognize the correct terms but also use them accurately in conversation. As they progress, they are gaining both linguistic knowledge and cultural awareness, building a strong foundation for continued success in their study of Spanish.- Kennedy Ziegeweid
