Academic Growth Continues at the High School

Academic Growth Continues

As we head into the final stretch of the school year, I’ve been thinking a lot about how much progress our school has made in recent years. Our staff has worked really hard to develop and implement plans that have driven our recent trends in achievement and growth. They have been incredibly focused on bringing high-leverage instructional strategies to the forefront of our staff development, and we’re seeing that work pay off in student results.

I am incredibly proud of our students and the the level of focus they’re bringing to their daily work and the culture of excellence that they’ve helped establish.  As a result of their work, we are currently seeing some of the best academic numbers in recent school history. Our school-wide cumulative GPA has climbed from 2.598 in 2022 to 2.999 this year.  That is the highest it has been in over 10 years.  In addition, after averaging 117 failing grades per trimester the previous four years, we have seen the number of failing grades plummet to record lows the past two trimesters with just 67 and 69 failing grades in Trimester 1 and 2, respectively.

Our goal for this final trimester is to keep this momentum and reach fewer than 50 Fs school-wide. With the way our students are working in the classroom and the continued support of our staff and families, I know we can get there!
